ABRSM Theory Grade 5 changes
There has been an announcement from the ABRSM that they are changing the way the ABRSM exam takes place. Historically this would have happened at The Royal Grammar School in High Wycombe on a set date (usually in November). However this has now changed due to recent circumstances relating to COVID-19.
The syllabus is essentially the same but the exam will be online instead. Based on current information this will require a laptop with internet access and a webcam.
The exam will take place on 10 November (the time is to be confirmed) but will be ONLINE only. The booking period for this will be opened on 28 September - and closed on 12 October.

NEW ABRSM PERFORMANCE EXAMS
The ABRSM are releasing a new type of graded exam alongside the traditional exam which will continue to run the same except possibly with small differences relating to social distancing but still at a venue.
The features of the new exam are as follows;
*4 pieces to perform instead of the traditional 3
*No sight reading, no aural tests and no scales or arpeggios
*The exam is to be recorded as a video file at the Music Studio and then sent to the ABRSM for marking
*This is to be launched from the Autumn 2020.

Whether students take the traditional exam or the new performance exam will depend on the individuals preferences and strengths.
